URGENT UPDATE: Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Saskatoon has just launched their 38th annual Project Red Ribbon campaign, running from November 1 to January 5. This initiative aims to raise awareness about the dangers of impaired driving during the busy holiday season, a time when road safety is critical.

As holiday gatherings increase, the risk of impaired driving escalates. Last holiday season, SGI reported a staggering 50 collisions caused by impaired drivers, leading to 3 tragic deaths and 20 injuries. These alarming statistics underscore the necessity for proactive measures to ensure safe travel.

The red ribbon serves as a powerful symbol of commitment—reminding everyone to never drive under the influence and honoring those who have lost loved ones to impaired driving. Residents of Saskatoon are encouraged to participate by tying a red ribbon or placing a decal on their vehicles, purses, keychains, or other personal items.

MADD is distributing boxes of ribbons and decals to local businesses and community centers. To obtain a box, residents can contact MADD at [email protected]. Your participation can make a difference in promoting safe driving this holiday season.

Authorities urge everyone to plan ahead for safe rides home after celebrations. As the campaign progresses, expect to see more community engagement and awareness efforts aimed at reducing impaired driving incidents. This is a critical time for every individual to take responsibility and contribute to safer roads.

Stay tuned for further updates as MADD Saskatoon works diligently to combat impaired driving and protect lives during this holiday season. Share this news to help spread the word and ensure that everyone arrives home safely.
