Wild Lights Holiday Event Launches at Milwaukee Zoo Nov. 21

UPDATE: The highly anticipated Wild Lights holiday event returns to the Milwaukee County Zoo starting November 21, promising a spectacular array of decorative displays along a newly expanded route. This festive celebration will illuminate the zoo for 28 nights until December 31, with hours from 5:30 to 9 p.m. daily, excluding specific closures.

Kick off the holiday season with an electrifying drone show on opening night, weather permitting, showcasing vibrant displays of animals featured in the Wild Lights. Admission gates will close at 8:15 p.m. each night, ensuring visitors get the full experience of this enchanting event.

For those seeking a unique viewing experience, the Milwaukee Zoo introduces a drive-thru experience on select nights: November 29, December 7, 14, and 21. Guests can enjoy a one-mile route through the zoo, taking approximately 30 minutes without animal viewings.

New this year, the Cheers! Wild Lights event for adults 21 and older returns on December 11. Enjoy a variety of live entertainment, LED performances, and a festive food selection. Guests can also partake in a seasonal beer sampling during a special outdoor watch party for the classic film “Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.”

Moreover, an exciting addition for furry friends occurs on December 17 with Dogs After Dark. Dog owners can purchase special tickets to bring their pets for a night filled with photo opportunities, a visit from Santa, and gifts provided by Racine Danish Kringles.

Families can explore the zoo’s captivating light displays, featuring 11 themed zones such as “Polar Point,” “Flamingle all the Way,” and “Winter Woodland.” Each area showcases stunning illuminations, with light shows every 10 minutes in the “ROARchestration” zone.

Select animal buildings will remain open during the event, allowing guests to observe animals on specific nights. Notable buildings include the Elephant Care Center and Aquatic & Reptile Center.

The zoo also presents a variety of engaging extras, including a 28-foot Tree of Wildlife, a colossal 12-foot Light Wall for creative displays, and nightly live entertainment.

Tickets for Wild Lights are available online and include parking, a value of $15. Visitors are encouraged to check the Milwaukee Zoo’s official website for detailed event schedules and ticket purchase options.
