BREAKING: Toronto police have made a significant arrest in connection with two hate-motivated harassment incidents targeting youth on TTC buses. 34-year-old Genevieve Reist was taken into custody on November 14 and is charged with Criminal Harassment following investigations into the alarming events earlier this year.

The initial incident occurred on September 15 in the North York area, specifically at the intersection of Bathurst Street and Sheppard Avenue West. Police received reports of harassment involving three youths on a TTC bus, where Reist allegedly made derogatory comments to them. Witnesses described her as having blonde hair and wearing a beanie hat.

A second incident escalated the situation on October 31, again near Bathurst and Sheppard. In this case, a youth was targeted after Reist boarded a different bus and engaged with the victim, making similar harassing remarks before exiting at Bathurst Street and Laurelcrest Avenue. This time, she was described as having black hair and wearing a black jacket and red sweater along with a beanie.

Following these alarming events, Toronto police linked both incidents to the same suspect and released a public image of Reist. Her arrest marks a critical step in addressing concerns over safety and harassment on public transport, particularly for vulnerable youth.

Reist is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on December 17. While the charges have yet to be tested in court, police urge anyone with additional information regarding these incidents to contact them or reach out to Crime Stoppers anonymously.

This urgent update reflects the ongoing commitment of Toronto authorities to combat hate-motivated actions and ensure the safety of all commuters. As developments continue, the community is reminded of the importance of reporting such incidents to prevent further occurrences.
