Witnesses reported that multiple suspects, armed with hammers, stormed the store, smashing display cases and stealing a substantial amount of jewelry before fleeing the scene. According to Stf. Sgt. Peter Cheung of York Regional Police, officers were already on-site for the annual Holiday Heroes Toy Drive when the robbery occurred. Officers rushed to the jewelry store but were met with aggression; the suspects deployed pepper spray, injuring one officer and two security guards. They received treatment for minor injuries, although it remains unclear if they were taken to a hospital.
