UPDATE: The Manitoba Bisons delivered a stunning performance on November 25, 2023, sweeping the Brandon University Bobcats with a decisive 3-0 victory at the Healthy Living Centre. This match marks a significant setback for the Bobcats, who are now 3-5 in the Canada West men’s volleyball standings.

The Bisons dominated the court with a remarkable display of blocking, tallying 10 blocks compared to the Bobcats’ meager 3 blocks. Bobcats co-captain Liam Kindle expressed frustration over the performance, stating, “It’s frustrating having the tables turned on us, but we can use that as motivation.”

The match began with the Bisons quickly establishing control. Early in the first set, the Bobcats struggled with four attack errors, allowing Manitoba to jump ahead 11-6. The Bisons cruised to a set win with 14 kills and just one error, showcasing their dominance right from the start.

In the second set, Kindle attempted to rally his team, scoring multiple kills as Brandon surged to an early 10-5 lead. However, a five-point run by Manitoba’s Eric Ogaranko rallied the Bisons, tying the match at 21-21. Ultimately, a rare error from Kindle sealed the set for the Bisons 24-23, pushing them up 2-0 in the match.

The third set saw the teams locked in a tight battle at 14-14, but the Bobcats faltered again, handing over critical points due to hitting errors. Manitoba continued to capitalize, culminating in a powerful kill from Owen Weekes, securing the match victory with a final score of 25-19.

Kindle led all scorers with 15 kills, despite the loss. “I could have hit -1.000 or +1.000 and it honestly doesn’t matter,” he remarked, emphasizing the need for his team to regroup. “We have a chance to do that this week.”

With a bye week ahead, the Bobcats will focus on improving their performance before facing UBC Okanagan on November 28-29. “I have faith in us,” Kindle stated confidently. “We’ve got a ton of skilled players, so we’re going to do our best to play our style going forward.”

As the Bobcats prepare for their next challenge, fans are left eager to see how the team will respond to this weekend’s tough losses.
