Sun Life Celebrates New Chapter with Office Opening and Farewell
The Sun Life office in Timiskaming Shores has officially opened its doors, marking a significant transition for the financial services provider. On October 16, 2023, community members gathered in downtown New Liskeard to celebrate the new office and bid farewell to long-time insurance broker and financial advisor, Jack Birtch. After over 25 years of dedicated service, Birtch has entrusted the firm’s future to a new team of advisors.
The inauguration of the newly renovated office, which represents a $40,000 investment in the community, was attended by dignitaries, clients, family, and well-wishers. The new office is led by Charles Lavergne, who, alongside colleagues Justin Charbonneau and Marc-André Therrien, aims to continue the legacy of service that Birtch established.
During the ceremony, Timiskaming-Cochrane MPP John Vanthof praised Birtch for his commitment to the community, stating, “It’s great to be in the community that Jack built.” He acknowledged Birtch not only for his professional contributions but also for his tireless volunteer efforts and entrepreneurial spirit.
Reflecting on his career, Birtch expressed gratitude for the support he received throughout the years. “Serving this community has been one of the most rewarding parts of my life,” he said. He expressed his confidence in the new team, highlighting their integrity and dedication to client service. “The key to success is to always rise to the occasion and do what’s right for the client,” Birtch advised.
The new office is part of an ongoing strategy to expand Sun Life’s reach in the region, ensuring that clients continue to receive quality financial advice and support. Lavergne emphasized the importance of this new chapter, stating, “Welcome to the new office and welcome to the new era.”
Local leaders also recognized the significance of this development for the community. Temiskaming Shores Mayor Jeff Laferriere commended the investment made by Sun Life and Birtch’s ongoing commitment to the area, saying, “You are a leader in our community. Everything you do does not go unnoticed.”
In addition to municipal support, Chris Oslund, President of the Temiskaming Foundation, expressed his appreciation for Birtch’s contributions. He noted that Birtch’s ability to help people has made a lasting impact on the community. “Jack’s gift is helping people,” Oslund remarked.
As Birtch embarks on his retirement, he leaves behind a strong foundation for the new team to build upon. The opening of the Sun Life office not only represents a new beginning for the firm but also a celebration of the legacy of a dedicated community member.
