Manchester United Pursues Rennes Duo and Ajax Star Amid Transfer Buzz
Manchester United is actively monitoring two promising players from Stade Rennais, defender Jérémy Jacquet and striker Mohamed Meite, as well as 17-year-old Jorthy Mokio from Ajax. The club’s interest comes as part of their ongoing efforts to bolster their squad in the upcoming transfer windows.
Reports indicate that a scout from Manchester United was present at Stade Rennais’ 1-0 victory over Paris FC on November 7, specifically to evaluate Jacquet. The 20-year-old has been a consistent performer, playing every minute of the current season. Meite, 18, is seen as a significant youth prospect, complementing United’s strategy of investing in young talent. Last summer, Arsenal and Crystal Palace were also linked with Jacquet before he extended his contract with Rennais until 2029.
Ajax’s Mokio Draws Attention
Separately, Jorthy Mokio has emerged as a target not only for Manchester United but also for Newcastle United and Eintracht Frankfurt. This information was revealed by Sacha Tavolieri of Sky Sports Switzerland. Despite being tied to Ajax until 2027, negotiations regarding a contract extension have reportedly stalled. Mokio, a defensive midfielder who can also operate as a center back or left back, made his senior debut for Belgium in March and is keen to advance his career.
As Manchester United navigates the transfer landscape, they are not the only club involved in significant player movements. Speculation continues around various players across Europe, with notable names and potential transfers making headlines.
Other Transfer Developments
In addition to the interest in Jacquet and Mokio, other transfer rumors are heating up. Ivan Toney, currently at Al Ahli, is contemplating a 50% salary reduction to facilitate a return to the Premier League. The 29-year-old striker has scored 11 goals in 15 matches this season and believes that a move back to England is essential for his chances of participating in the upcoming World Cup under coach Thomas Tuchel.
Meanwhile, Crystal Palace is reportedly aware that Liverpool is the only club pursuing center-back Marc Guéhi during the January transfer window. Guéhi’s contract expires at the end of the season, allowing him to negotiate with clubs outside of England starting January 1.
In Italy, Fiorentina is eyeing Josh Acheampong from Chelsea as their primary target for January. The 19-year-old defender has had limited first-team opportunities and is open to a loan move, with an option for a permanent transfer.
Amid these movements, Paris Saint-Germain is also in the mix, looking to secure 18-year-old midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi from Lille for around €45 million, aiming to outmaneuver clubs like Manchester United and Real Madrid.
As the transfer window approaches, clubs across Europe are positioning themselves for strategic acquisitions. The developments at Manchester United highlight their commitment to enhancing their squad with young, talented players, while the broader transfer market remains dynamic, with numerous clubs vying for key signings.
The coming weeks will likely bring further clarity as clubs finalize their plans and attempt to secure the players who might shape their fortunes both on and off the pitch.
