Three years into her recovery journey, water advocacy has become central to Starr’s mission. “Since entering recovery, I’ve learned so much about water and how it can help us,” she explained. “Water is living spirit. When we lack knowledge or clarity, we can always just ask the water.” Her album aims to inspire others to protect sacred water rights, sending ripples of awareness across communities.

Among her original tracks is the stirring anthem She Stands for Truth and Justice, which empowers women and calls for environmental action. “Our children have the right to grow up in a clean environment,” Starr emphasized. Another poignant song, Mama Bear Leads the Way, tells a story of gratitude and healing, emphasizing the transformative power of water.

Starr’s journey to this moment began just two years ago at community events. “Indigenous events gave me a place to grow,” she recalled. Each performance has fueled her passion, with strong community support propelling her forward. “I have loads of community support from Indigenous artists performing at my fundraiser,” she added, including mentor Curt Young, who will play lead guitar at the event.

Her debut album, composed of 12 original songs, aims to create a movement. “I want my music to create a wave of awareness,” she stated. “The only way was to practice – to start writing songs about why water is important.” The first single, Sun Is on the Rise, is already available on major streaming platforms, including Spotify and Apple Music.
