Pekinese Prince Crowned Best In Show at Canadian Dog Championship
A Pekinese named Prince claimed the prestigious title of Best In Show at the Canadian Kennel Club’s National Championship Dog Show held over the weekend in Mississauga, Ontario. The event attracted considerable attention, showcasing a total of 814 dogs representing 135 breeds from across Canada.
The honour bestowed upon Prince came with a cash prize of $5,000, awarded to his owner, Cynthia Dyson from Wilsonville, Ontario. In addition to the Best In Show accolade, Prince also triumphed in the Toy division, further solidifying his status as a standout competitor.
Event Highlights and Competition
The Canadian Kennel Club organized this event to celebrate purebred dogs and their owners. The competition, held on Saturday, showcased the hard work and dedication of both participants and breeders. The Reserve Best in Show title went to Rambo, a Miniature American Shepherd owned by Kelli Rettie from Thamesford, Ontario. Rambo’s achievement came with a prize of $1,000.
According to the Canadian Kennel Club, over half a million Canadians participated in various dog events throughout the previous year, attending one of the approximately 4,000 purebred dog shows held across the country. Established in 1888, the Canadian Kennel Club serves as the primary registry body for purebred dogs in Canada and currently recognizes 187 breeds.
