Pekinese Named Prince Triumphs at Canadian Kennel Club Show
A Pekinese named Prince clinched the prestigious Best In Show title at the Canadian Kennel Club National Championship Dog Show held in Mississauga, Ontario, over the weekend. The accolade came with a prize of $5,000 for Prince’s owner, Cynthia Dyson, hailing from Wilsonville, Ontario. In addition to the overall title, Prince also excelled in the Toy division, showcasing his impressive pedigree and training.

The dog show, which took place on Saturday, featured an impressive turnout of 814 dogs representing 135 breeds from all over Canada. This annual event serves as a celebration of purebred dogs and their owners, drawing significant interest from dog enthusiasts across the nation. The Reserve Best In Show title was awarded to Rambo, a Miniature American Shepherd owned by Kelli Rettie from Thamesford, Ontario. Rambo’s achievement was recognized with a $1,000 prize, marking a successful outing for Rettie as well.
Canadian Kennel Club and Its Impact
According to the Canadian Kennel Club, over half a million Canadians attended one of the approximately 4,000 purebred dog events across the country last year. Established in 1888, the organization is the primary registry body for purebred dogs in Canada and currently recognizes 187 breeds. The club plays a vital role in promoting responsible dog ownership and the importance of purebred standards.
