Joni Mitchell, Nelly Furtado Honored at 2026 Juno Awards
BREAKING: Joni Mitchell and Nelly Furtado are set to receive prestigious honors at the 2026 Juno Awards, confirmed by the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) and CBC earlier today. The awards will take place on March 29, 2026, at the newly opened TD Coliseum in Hamilton, Ontario.
Joni Mitchell will be awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing her monumental impact on music over decades. This honor, presented by the National Arts Centre, celebrates Mitchell’s trailblazing career, during which she has won four Junos and was previously inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 1981.
Nelly Furtado will be inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, acknowledging her chart-topping success and numerous accolades, including multiple Juno, Grammy, and Latin Grammy awards. Furtado has significantly influenced the pop music landscape since the early 2000s and joins a lineup of recent inductees like Sum 41 and Nickelback.
The Juno Awards are returning to Hamilton for the first time in a decade, and local favorites Arkells will perform, alongside fellow Juno mainstays, The Beaches. Arkells have secured nine Juno Awards since 2010, while The Beaches have won all five awards they’ve been nominated for since 2018.
“Hamilton has always been a city that lives and breathes music,” said Allan Reid, CARAS president and CEO. “To return here with an incredible lineup that includes Joni Mitchell and Nelly Furtado — two of Canada’s most influential artists — is a fitting way to celebrate our country’s rich musical legacy.”
In addition, the Junos and MusiCounts will collaborate for a special industry exchange, connecting ten music educators with ten local musicians from Hamilton, fostering community-building and hands-on learning.
Tickets for the 2026 Juno Awards will go on sale on November 28 at 10 a.m. ET. An early-access pre-sale code (CBCMUSIC) will be available on November 27 at 10 a.m. ET. Don’t miss your chance to witness this historic celebration of music!
Stay tuned for further updates on this exciting event as it approaches.
