UChicago Medicine AdventHealth Bolingbrook Unveils New Labs
UChicago Medicine AdventHealth Bolingbrook is set to enhance its cardiac and cancer care capabilities by constructing two new catheterization labs. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on November 7, 2023, marking a significant step forward in providing advanced medical services to the community. Hospital leadership, local officials, and community stakeholders gathered to celebrate this initiative.
The new catheterization labs are designed to improve the hospital’s response times for cardiac emergencies, particularly for conditions such as ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction. This type of heart attack requires immediate medical intervention, and the expansion aims to facilitate quicker treatment for patients in need.
In addition to cardiac care, the new facilities will broaden the hospital’s capacity for advanced interventional radiology procedures. These include critical services such as image-guided biopsies and minimally invasive treatments for cancer patients. With these upgrades, UChicago Medicine AdventHealth Bolingbrook seeks to ensure that patients receive the best possible care in a timely manner.
During the ceremony, Bolingbrook Mayor Mary Alexander-Basta expressed her support for the project, highlighting its importance to the local community. Medical staff president Dr. Amon Rubin and clinical integration officer Gordon Wesley also addressed the audience, emphasizing the positive impact that the new labs will have on patient outcomes.
Construction of the catheterization labs is expected to commence in early 2027, with the goal of providing state-of-the-art facilities for both cardiac and oncology patients. This initiative reflects a broader commitment to advancing healthcare access and quality in the Bolingbrook area.
The development aligns with UChicago Medicine’s mission to deliver comprehensive and specialized care. By investing in new technology and facilities, the organization aims to meet the evolving needs of the community it serves. The addition of these two labs represents a proactive approach to healthcare, ensuring that residents have access to advanced treatments close to home.
