Urgent: Suspicious Death of Woman Investigated in Meadow Lake

UPDATE: Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes Unit has launched an urgent investigation following the discovery of a woman’s body in a parking lot in Meadow Lake this morning. At approximately 9 a.m. on Friday, October 20, 2023, officers responded to reports of an unresponsive individual near Highway 4 and First Avenue West.

Authorities have confirmed that a 29-year-old woman from Waterhen Lake First Nation was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials have notified her family and are treating the death as suspicious.

The Major Crimes Unit is spearheading the investigation, collaborating with the Meadow Lake detachment, North Battleford Police Dog Service, and forensic teams, as well as the Saskatchewan Coroners Service.

RCMP are urging anyone with information or who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the vicinity earlier today to come forward. Tips can be submitted directly to the RCMP or anonymously through Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers.
