Rakuten Kobo Launches New Remote for Enhanced E-Reading Experience
The long-awaited Kobo Remote, a Bluetooth page-turning device designed to enhance the e-reading experience, is now shipping. Previously scheduled for release last month, the launch was delayed until early December 2023 due to necessary software updates aimed at resolving bugs on Kobo’s e-readers.
The Kobo Remote stands out from other products on the market as it does not require any clipping mechanism to attach to the e-reader. Instead, it offers an intuitive design that allows users to seamlessly turn pages while remaining fully immersed in their reading environment. Readers can now place their e-readers comfortably in any position without worrying about physical distractions.
Michael Tamblyn, CEO of Rakuten Kobo, expressed enthusiasm about the product’s launch, emphasizing the importance of reading comfort. He stated, “We know that true reading comfort often means finding your perfect nest – whether that’s burrowed under blankets at home or lounging by a sun-drenched beach. The excitement from readers following our initial announcement was palpable, especially because the idea came from our customers and how they like to read.”
The Kobo Remote is compatible with several popular Kobo devices, including the Kobo Libra Colour, Kobo Clara Colour, Kobo Sage, and Kobo Elipsa 2E. It is available in both Black and White options. The device features user-friendly controls that enable readers to easily navigate forward or back, enhancing their engagement with the narrative.
The retail price for the Kobo Remote is set at $34.99 CAD. It can be purchased directly from the Kobo website as well as from select retail partners. The remote is now available in various countries, including Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, and parts of Europe such as the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Italy, Spain, and more.
The launch of the Kobo Remote reflects Rakuten Kobo’s commitment to improving the reading experience for its users. As readers increasingly seek ways to enjoy their favorite books without interruption, this innovative device aims to meet those needs and elevate the overall enjoyment of e-books.
