The Watseka Kiwanis Club has achieved the prestigious Distinguished Club status for the 2024-2025 period, a recognition given to only a select number of clubs within its division. Under the leadership of President Ashley Fink and Secretary/Treasurer Ashtyn Barrett, the club not only met the necessary criteria but also excelled in various areas, including membership growth and community service initiatives.

This accolade places the Watseka club among just 61 of 168 clubs that earned this distinguished recognition, highlighting its commitment to serving local children and enhancing community well-being. Achieving this status requires clubs to complete extensive training and demonstrate active engagement in programs that benefit youth in their areas.

In a personal milestone, Fink and Barrett also received individual Distinguished awards, celebrating their exceptional contributions to the club and its mission. Fink’s achievement is particularly noteworthy as she follows in the footsteps of her father, Curtis Luecke, who received the same Distinguished Award during his presidency in the 2020-2021 term. This makes them the first father-daughter duo in the club’s history to hold Distinguished president positions.

The recognition of the Watseka Kiwanis Club reflects not only individual achievements but also the collective effort of its members. The club has long been dedicated to fostering community spirit and improving the lives of children through various initiatives. The support from local members and the broader community has been vital in reaching these benchmarks.

As the club moves forward into the new year, it aims to build on this momentum, continuing to enhance its programs and outreach efforts. The leadership team is optimistic about the future, envisioning even greater community impact and further growth in membership.

This achievement stands as a testament to the hard work and dedication of the Watseka Kiwanis Club and its members, reinforcing the importance of community service and leadership in making a difference in children’s lives.
