Canada Offers Free Admission and Discounts with Canada Strong Pass
The Canadian Government has reintroduced the Canada Strong Pass, providing free admission and a 25% discount on camping and overnight stays at locations managed by Parks Canada. This initiative aims to encourage public engagement with the country’s natural and cultural heritage, particularly during the holiday season and summer of 2026.
The free admission period runs from June 19 to September 7, 2026, allowing visitors access to national historic sites, national parks, and national marine conservation areas without any fees. Additionally, there will be no fees for lockage at seven canals operated by Parks Canada during these dates. It’s important for visitors to check the specific locations they plan to visit, as not all sites will offer the same services or amenities.
For those planning to visit before the summer rush, regular admission fees will apply from January 16 to June 18, 2026. During this time, visitors can take advantage of the 25% discount on camping and roofed accommodations at Parks Canada facilities. This discount cannot be combined with other promotions, ensuring that visitors receive the best available rate.
Details on Reservations and Services
Visitors interested in camping should be aware that some locations may have limited availability or modified services, especially in December and January. Advance reservations are highly recommended for popular Parks Canada campgrounds, and those registering in person will benefit from the reduced camping rates during the Canada Strong Pass periods.
Existing reservations made prior to January 16, 2026, that include dates falling within the Canada Strong Pass periods will be eligible for a refund of the difference in price. Parks Canada will notify customers via email once the refund has been processed, so no further action is required on their part.
It’s also worth noting that Parks Canada locations in northern Canada typically do not charge admission fees. However, they do cater to backcountry users and may offer special services during the Canada Strong Pass periods.
Plan Ahead for Your Visit
To ensure a smooth experience, visitors should familiarize themselves with the specific conditions and requirements at their chosen Parks Canada locations. Many sites experience high traffic, particularly in the summer months, making advance planning essential.
For those who have purchased travel packages that include Parks Canada admission or overnight stays, it is advisable to reach out to the tourism operator for any inquiries related to the Canada Strong Pass periods.
Parks Canada remains committed to preserving and promoting the country’s exceptional natural and cultural heritage, inviting everyone to explore these treasured sites while supporting responsible tourism practices.
