Camosun College Appoints Richard Stride as New Provost
Camosun College has announced the appointment of Richard Stride as its new provost and academic vice-president. This decision, made public on September 1, 2023, marks a significant leadership transition for the institution located in Victoria, British Columbia. Stride, who has had an extensive career in academia, will assume his new role immediately, taking charge of the college’s academic strategy and operations.
Stride comes to Camosun with a wealth of experience in higher education. Previously, he served as a senior administrator at various institutions, where he focused on enhancing student outcomes and academic excellence. His appointment is expected to bring fresh perspectives to Camosun’s ongoing efforts to innovate its educational programs and foster a supportive learning environment.
In a statement regarding his new role, Stride expressed enthusiasm for joining Camosun College. He emphasized his commitment to collaboration with faculty, staff, and students to further advance the institution’s mission and goals. “I look forward to working with the talented team at Camosun and contributing to the success of our students,” he said.
In a related development, students at Royal Roads University (RRU) are set to benefit from new perks in the Langford area. RRU has partnered with local businesses to offer discounts and special services exclusively for its students. This initiative aims to enhance the student experience outside the classroom and support local commerce.
The collaboration includes various establishments such as cafés, bookstores, and fitness centers, all providing incentives for students to connect with their community while pursuing their education. This partnership not only benefits students financially but also encourages a sense of belonging and engagement within the Langford area.
Both Camosun College and RRU are focused on enhancing the educational experience for their students. With Richard Stride at the helm of Camosun’s academic leadership and RRU fostering community partnerships, the two institutions are actively working to adapt to the evolving landscape of higher education in British Columbia.
As they embark on these new initiatives, both colleges aim to reinforce their commitment to academic excellence and student support, ensuring that they meet the diverse needs of their student populations.
