BREAKING: The Belleville Senators snapped a five-game losing streak with a thrilling 4-3 victory over the Laval Rocket on Saturday night. This much-needed win was secured with a late goal and stellar goaltending, making it a moment fans will remember.
In a high-stakes game, Jackson Parsons showcased his skills with 26 saves, many of which were crucial to keeping the Senators in the game. With just over two minutes left in regulation, Garrett Pilon deflected a powerful shot to clinch the win, sending the home crowd into a frenzy.
The Senators got off to a strong start, scoring the opening goal within the first three minutes. Scott Harrington unleashed a blast, set up by Xavier Bourgault, marking Harrington’s second goal of the season. This was quickly followed by another goal from Jorian Donovan, who rifled a low shot past Laval’s goaltender Kahkonen at 6:31 of the first period, bringing the score to 2-0.
Further adding to the momentum, Phil Daoust scored at 11:07 with a shot from the close slot, effectively chasing Kahkonen from the net after just seven shots. The Senators were dominant, leading 3-0 early in the game.
However, the second period took a dramatic turn as Laval fought back, scoring three quick goals, including one from Josh Roy just 26 seconds into the period and two from Alex Belzile. This turnaround left the Senators on the edge, but Parsons rose to the occasion, making critical saves, including two back-to-back on shorthanded breaks.
As the game approached its final moments, the Senators capitalized on a power play. Lassi Thomson delivered a powerful one-timer set up by Wyatt Bongiovanni, which Pilon deflected for his third goal of the season with just 2:23 remaining.
With this victory, the Senators are now within eight points of the first-place Laval Rocket in the AHL’s North Division. They will look to build on this momentum in their upcoming match against the Rochester Americans on **Wednesday, October 25, 2023**, at 7 p.m..
