Aatu Raty Scores Twice as Canucks Beat Wild 4-2, Ending Skid
UPDATE: The Vancouver Canucks have snapped their four-game losing streak with a decisive 4-2 victory over the Minnesota Wild on December 6, 2025. Aatu Raty emerged as the star, scoring twice and assisting on another goal, making a significant impact in this crucial matchup.
The Canucks dominated the second period, scoring three times in just 5:43 to seize control of the game. Raty’s impressive performance not only halted the team’s losing streak but also marked the first three-point game of his NHL career. Vancouver’s Nikita Tolopilo was solid in net, stopping 27 shots and improving his record to 2-1-0.
Vancouver’s scoring burst began at 9:29 of the second period when rookie Tom Willander netted his first NHL goal. This was quickly followed by Elias Pettersson’s first goal of the season at 11:46, showcasing the Canucks’ offensive resurgence. Meanwhile, the Wild’s Matt Boldy scored the opening goal just 3:11 into the game, putting Minnesota ahead early.
Despite the Wild’s strong start, they struggled to maintain momentum, suffering their second consecutive loss after an impressive run of 8-0-1 in their previous nine games. Mats Zuccarello managed to score on a power play in the third period, but it wasn’t enough to change the outcome.
Vancouver’s power play continued to be a concern, as they failed to convert on their three attempts, marking five games without a power play goal. In contrast, the Wild managed to score on one of their three power play opportunities, maintaining their strong defensive record of not allowing a power-play goal in nine games.
Notably, the Canucks faced a challenge before the game when Elias Pettersson was scratched due to an upper-body injury during warmups, just before what would have been his 500th career game.
What’s Next: The Canucks will look to build on this momentum as they prepare to host the Detroit Red Wings on Monday. The Wild, on the other hand, will head to Seattle to face the Kraken on the same day.
This thrilling matchup highlighted the resilience of the Canucks, offering a glimmer of hope for fans after a rough patch. As the NHL season progresses, both teams will aim to recover and improve their standings in the highly competitive league.
