Planet of Lana II Unveils Ambitious Orchestral Soundtrack
In a significant reveal for fans of the franchise, Wishfully Studios and Thunderful have released a new developer diary for Planet of Lana II: Children of the Leaf. The video showcases the creation of an expansive orchestral soundtrack, featuring the renowned composer Takeshi Furukawa as he discusses his work with a full orchestra and choir in Budapest, Hungary.
Expanding Musical Horizons
Takeshi Furukawa, a BAFTA-nominated composer, emphasizes that the sequel’s broader narrative scope necessitated a more ambitious musical direction. He explains that the soundtrack aims to enhance the emotional core established in the original game, allowing for a deeper connection between the music and gameplay. Furukawa’s previous accolades include scores for The Last Guardian and Avatar: The Last Airbender, which underscores his expertise in crafting immersive soundscapes.
In the developer diary, Furukawa describes how he blends the power of a full orchestra with choral arrangements and traditional Swedish musical influences. This combination is designed to reflect the beauty, tension, and emotional depth of the game’s world. As the story unfolds, players will experience a soundscape that complements the visuals, enriching their overall engagement with the game.
A New Era of Gameplay
The diary marks the beginning of a new video series focused on various elements of Planet of Lana II: Children of the Leaf. Wishfully Studios and Thunderful plan to release additional videos leading up to the launch, providing fans with insights into the creative process behind the game. Recently, a 10-minute gameplay walkthrough was also released, giving viewers an extended look at the sequel’s features and gameplay mechanics.
The narrative continues to follow the protagonists, Lana and her companion Mui, as they navigate a world torn apart by greed and the desire for power. Players will join them in their quest to confront the forces disrupting their home and fight not just for survival but to protect the planet’s very soul. The sequel promises to engage both new players and returning fans with refined companion gameplay, clever puzzles, and intense action set in a captivating world.
Planet of Lana II: Children of the Leaf is set to launch in early 2024 across multiple platforms, including PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox Game Pass, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch 2, and the original Nintendo Switch.
