Filipino Actors Shine at 32nd Annual Actors’ Awards in L.A.
Filipino actors Kristin Villanueva, Isa Briones, and Amielynn Abellera celebrated significant recognition at the 32nd Annual Actors’ Awards held in Los Angeles on March 3, 2026. The trio received the award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series for their roles in the acclaimed television series, The Pitt. This event, previously known as the Screen Actors Guild Awards, honors exceptional achievements in film and primetime television.
Their performances as medical professionals in The Pitt, which depicts the intense fifteen-hour shifts at the fictional Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center, resonated deeply with audiences. Villanueva and Abellera portrayed nurses “Perlah” and “Princess,” while Briones took on the role of the controversial “Dr. Trinity Santos.” The show has been praised for its portrayal of Filipino healthcare workers in the American medical landscape.
Expressions of Pride and Joy
During the awards ceremony, the joy felt by the Filipino community was palpable. Isa Briones expressed her pride, stating, “I’m the daughter of an immigrant! I’m here and I have my dad with me.” Her father, Jon Jon Briones, who is also an accomplished performer, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the pride of Filipinos worldwide. “It’s wild because everyone in the Philippines right now are crying and their hearts are full and very proud of this little one,” he remarked.
Both Briones and her father addressed their fellow Filipinos and fans, with Isa joyfully shouting, “Mabuhay!” and Jon Jon adding, “Kamusta na kayo lahat? Nandito kami para sainyo,” which translates to “How is everyone? We are here for you.” Their heartfelt messages underscored the significance of their achievements not only as individual actors but as representatives of Filipino talent on an international stage.
The Impact of Filipino Representation
The recognition at the Actors’ Awards comes at a time when representation in media is increasingly crucial. The Pitt has garnered attention for showcasing the contributions of Filipino healthcare workers in a system where they play a vital role. The series not only entertains but also raises awareness about the challenges faced by these professionals, providing a platform for their stories to be told.
As the awards ceremony concluded, the celebration of Filipino talent resonated throughout the audience and beyond, with many fans expressing their pride in the achievements of Villanueva, Briones, and Abellera. Their success serves as an inspiration for aspiring actors and a reminder of the importance of diverse representation in the entertainment industry.
