Broadway Stars Shine at 2025 Broadway Barks Event in NYC
On July 12, 2025, actors and performers Kyle Selig and Jacob Dickey participated in the highly anticipated Broadway Barks event, held at Shubert Alley in New York City. This annual event, co-hosted by renowned stars Bernadette Peters and Beth Leavel, aims to promote pet adoption and support animal welfare.
Dickey expressed his enthusiasm for participating, stating, “It feels amazing. It is nice to be back with my ‘Old Friends’ cast, but I love dogs so much, and this is such a cool collaboration between Broadway and adoptions.” For him, the event was a perfect blend of his two passions: theatre and animal care.
Selig, who attended the event for the first time, echoed this sentiment, exclaiming, “I love it! This is my first time but I will be here every year.” His commitment to the cause was evident as he emphasized the importance of finding homes for dogs in need. “I think it’s important to find homes for these beautiful and wonderful puppies,” he remarked.
Both actors shared personal stories about their connections to pets. Dickey noted, “I adopted my dog and it was one of the best things of my life.” He encouraged attendees to consider adopting pets while enjoying the festivities. “I would love for them to adopt puppies and little furry babies and take them home,” he said. “Also, I want them to have fun because it is such a fun event, and it is such a fun day.”
Beyond their roles in this charity event, Selig reflected on his experience in the Broadway musical “Water for Elephants.” He fondly recalled the camaraderie among the cast, praising his co-stars, including Isabelle McCalla, Paul Alexander Nolan, and Wade McCollum, for their talent and support during the production. “It was such a good time,” Selig shared.
The Broadway Barks event continues to hold a special place in the hearts of those involved, combining the glamour of Broadway with the vital mission of pet adoption. With many performers advocating for animal welfare, the event not only entertains but also educates the public on the importance of providing loving homes for pets.

This year’s Broadway Barks event not only highlighted the talents of its co-hosts but also reinforced the crucial message of animal adoption, making it a memorable occasion for both performers and animal lovers alike.
