The incident occurred on March 15, 2024, while Pestonji was loading groceries into her vehicle at a parking lot in north Toronto. Following a comprehensive search lasting three days, the teenager now faces a charge of second-degree murder.

Pestonji was discovered with multiple stab wounds and was subsequently pronounced dead at a local hospital.
