GO Transit Enhances Services for BlackPink Concerts at Rogers Stadium

GO Transit has announced adjustments to its train schedules to accommodate concert-goers attending upcoming shows by BlackPink at Rogers Stadium. These changes come in response to feedback from attendees who expressed concerns over the timing of last trains after earlier concerts at the venue, which opened in late June 2023.
Earlier this month, during concerts featuring Coldplay and Stray Kids, some attendees reported having to leave the performances early to catch the last northbound train to Barrie, which was scheduled to depart Downsview Park GO at 11:13 p.m. To address these issues, GO Transit has made several enhancements to its service for the two BlackPink concerts scheduled for August 1 and August 2.
New Train Schedule for Concert Nights
The last northbound train to Allandale Waterfront will now leave at 11:22 p.m., providing concert-goers with a bit more time to enjoy the performances. Additionally, GO Transit has added three new southbound trains to Union Station, departing at 11:45 p.m., 11:55 p.m., and 12:05 a.m.. For those traveling from Union Station to Burlington GO Station, a new train will also be available at 12:35 a.m..
These modifications are part of a broader effort to improve the experience for attendees at the newly constructed, temporary venue, which has a capacity of 50,000 people. The stadium was built on the site of the former Downsview Airport, located north of Yorkdale Mall, and has been hosting a series of concerts throughout the summer.
Stakeholders Respond to Feedback
The adjustments to GO Transit services reflect a collaborative response from various stakeholders, including Live Nation and the TTC. Following mixed reviews about the venue’s capacity to handle large crowds, these organizations have worked to enhance the overall concert experience. As part of their planning, fare-free transit rides from the Downsview Park area on concert nights have also been implemented.
As Rogers Stadium prepares for more than a dozen concerts this summer, the enhancements made by GO Transit aim to ensure that concert-goers can enjoy their events without the added stress of missing their last trains. With these changes in place, attendees can look forward to a more accommodating travel experience.
