The 2025 Manitoba Threshermen’s Reunion & Stampede kicked off on Thursday in Austin, attracting a large crowd eager to celebrate agricultural heritage. This four-day event showcases farming traditions, machinery, and rodeo activities, running until Sunday.

The opening day featured the lively Pioneer Power Parade, where vintage tractors and equipment took center stage. Among the highlights were participants like Maxwell Farquhar from Chilliwack, British Columbia, and Logan Roy from Binscarth, who operated a 110-horsepower Case traction engine. Spectators enjoyed the sight of various tractors, including notable entries from John Deere, parading through the grounds.

In addition to the parade, attendees participated in traditional competitions. Mike Beamish demonstrated his skills during the stooking competition, where he pitchforked wheat off a wagon. This activity involves arranging sheaves of cut grain-stalks into stooks, a method used to keep the grain heads off the ground prior to threshing.

The reunion not only celebrates the region’s agricultural roots but also serves as a gathering point for families and farming enthusiasts. Attendees have the opportunity to engage with historical exhibits and learn about the evolution of farming practices over the years.

As the event continues through Sunday, visitors can expect more activities, including rodeo performances, craft displays, and interactive workshops. The Threshermen’s Reunion stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of agricultural communities in Manitoba, offering a unique blend of nostalgia and education for all ages.
