Vintage Motorcycle Enthusiasts Set for Biggar Bike Rally Aug. 2-3

The annual Biggar Bike Rally is scheduled to take place on August 2 and 3, 2025, in Biggar, Saskatchewan, attracting vintage motorcycle enthusiasts from across the prairies. This event, hosted by the Canadian Vintage Motorcycle Group (CVMG) North Saskatchewan section, has been a staple for over 45 years, significantly increasing the town’s population of approximately 2,000 residents during the festival.
Founded by John Bennett, who began the rally on his farm, the event has evolved since its inception in the early 1980s. According to Claus Littmann, president of CVMG North Saskatchewan, the rally was the only vintage motorcycle gathering in the prairies for many years. As attendance grew to over 250 participants, the event relocated to the Biggar Regional Campground to accommodate the increasing number of enthusiasts.
Littmann joined the North Saskatchewan section in 2015 and became president in 2023. He emphasizes the importance of engaging younger riders, recognizing that many may lack the mechanical skills necessary to maintain vintage motorcycles. “Some of the younger generation have been raised with limited mechanical experience,” he explained, noting the challenges they face with older models like the Honda motorcycle.
To address this gap, the North Saskatchewan section has initiated motorcycle education sessions, aiming to pass on knowledge and practical skills to newer riders. Littmann observes that what constitutes “vintage” varies among generations. For younger enthusiasts, motorcycles from the 1970s and 1980s may hold more appeal than the older models from the 1930s to 1950s.
Participants will begin arriving at the Biggar Regional Campground on Friday, August 1, with registration continuing through Saturday morning. The planned activities include a ride to Route 51 Bar and Grill in Springwater for lunch, followed by a matinee at the historic Majestic Theatre. Originally built in 1911, the theatre was renovated in the 1990s and has become a cultural highlight in Biggar.
After lunch, attendees will enjoy a catered dinner and games in the evening. On Sunday, the schedule includes a breakfast hosted by the Masons, a motorcycle show and shine featuring awards, and a scavenger hunt, all set against the backdrop of scenic paved roads.
A significant highlight of this year’s rally will be the celebration of 50 years of the Honda Gold Wing, a touring motorcycle first launched in 1975. Littmann anticipates a strong turnout of Gold Wing riders, stating, “I think we’ll see a good number of Gold Wing riders showing up for the rally.”
The rally is open to the public, providing an opportunity for attendees to connect with motorcycle enthusiasts from British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba while viewing their vintage machines.
