A disturbance on an EasyJet flight from London’s Luton Airport to Glasgow Airport has led to a police intervention and the arrest of a 41-year-old man. The incident occurred on Sunday, March 10, 2024, when the man reportedly shouted threats, claiming he had a bomb and expressing hostility towards the United States and its President, Donald Trump.

Footage shared on social media captures a chaotic scene aboard the aircraft. In the video, the man can be heard yelling, “I’ve got a bomb!” as well as “death to America, death to Trump!” and “Allahu Akbar!” which translates to “God is great” in Arabic. As he made these statements, fellow passengers acted swiftly, restraining him on the floor of the plane. One passenger is seen asking, “Why are you saying you’re going to bomb this plane?” to which the man replied, “Because I want to send a message to Trump,” referencing the president’s recent arrival in Scotland.

Upon landing at Glasgow Airport, local authorities boarded the aircraft and arrested the suspect. According to a statement from Police Scotland, he remains in custody and is scheduled to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court on Monday, March 11, 2024. The police noted, “At this time, we believe the incident was contained and that nobody else was involved.” They are currently reviewing the videos circulating online, which are being assessed by counter-terrorism officers.

An EasyJet spokesperson confirmed the incident, indicating that the passenger was removed due to his behavior onboard. “EasyJet’s crew are trained to assess all situations and act quickly and appropriately to ensure that the safety of the flight and other customers is not compromised at any time,” the representative stated.

This incident coincides with President Trump’s four-day visit to Scotland, during which he is expected to meet with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer at a golf property he owns. The tense situation aboard the EasyJet flight highlights the heightened security concerns associated with high-profile political visits and the potential for disturbances.
