UPDATE: The Brandon Chamber of Commerce has officially appointed Curtis Hullick as its new general manager, effective immediately. This significant appointment comes as the chamber aims to strengthen community ties and enhance business engagement in Brandon.

Hullick, who began his role this week, brings over two decades of experience from the Manitoba Habitat Heritage Corporation, making him a well-rounded leader for the chamber. “The opportunity to build a business network and meet new people was very appealing,” Hullick stated, emphasizing his commitment to community involvement.

Originally from Shoal Lake, Hullick is a graduate of Assiniboine College’s agribusiness program. He has long been an advocate for community engagement, having actively volunteered for various local initiatives. His wife is a nurse at the Brandon Regional Health Centre, and their children attend Vincent Massey High School, underscoring their deep roots in the community.

As general manager, Hullick will lead the chamber’s operations under the board of directors’ guidance. He steps into this position during a dynamic period, where the chamber is gaining momentum through key events like the State of the City, State of the Province, and State of the Chamber. “These events have been very successful,” he noted, highlighting their role in facilitating direct dialogue between local businesses and political leaders on critical issues such as tariffs and economic development.

While Hullick emphasizes continuity and stability, he is also open to new ideas. “We’re not looking to make major changes immediately,” he explained. “There’s value in evaluating what we’re doing and seeing where we can improve.” He reassured the community that familiar events like luncheons and after-hours gatherings will continue, aiming to enhance engagement further.

Addressing the challenges ahead, Hullick stated, “The biggest task right now is making sure people know the chamber is here for them.” He aims for the chamber to be perceived as a partner in helping local businesses grow and adapt.

With a clear vision for the future, Hullick expressed enthusiasm for his new role, stating, “Brandon is our home, and I’m excited to serve this community.” His commitment to fostering a vibrant business environment in Brandon reflects a promising future for the chamber and its members.

Stay tuned for more updates as Curtis Hullick embarks on this essential journey to strengthen Brandon’s business landscape.
