Urgent Heat Warnings Issued for Nova Scotia, Relief Expected Soon

URGENT UPDATE: Heat warnings are currently in effect across most of Nova Scotia, with temperatures soaring between 29 to 31 °C today. Environment Canada has issued alerts for nearly the entire province, excluding parts of Digby, Shelburne, and Yarmouth counties. The humidex values will make it feel even hotter, ranging from 34 to 36 °C.
Residents are advised to take precautions against the extreme heat, as these conditions pose health risks, especially for vulnerable populations. Drink plenty of water, stay hydrated, and avoid strenuous outdoor activities during peak hours.
Fortunately, relief is on the horizon! Starting tomorrow, July 29, 2023, temperatures are expected to drop to around 26 °C with lower humidity levels. By the long weekend, daytime highs will further decrease, reaching 19 °C on Friday and 24 °C on Saturday, providing much-needed respite from the July heat.
As heat warnings persist, residents are encouraged to stay informed through Environment Canada and local news outlets. Monitor your health and that of your loved ones, and prepare for a cooler weekend ahead.
Stay tuned for updates as this developing weather pattern unfolds.
