Leduc and Asemota Claim 100m Titles at Canadian Championships

BREAKING: Sprinter Audrey Leduc of Gatineau, Quebec, has just claimed the women’s 100-metre championship title at the Canadian Track and Field Championships in Ottawa, clocking an impressive 11.06 seconds. This victory, achieved on August 1, 2025, positions Leduc as a leading force in Canadian athletics.
Leduc, 26, is not only a champion today but also holds the Canadian records for both the 100 metres (10.95 seconds) and 200 metres (22.36 seconds), both set in 2024. She edged out Olympian Sade McCreath from Ajax, Ontario, who finished in 11.09 seconds, and Jacqueline Madogo of Ottawa, who clocked in at 11.21 seconds and is the 2023 national champion in the 200 metres.
In a thrilling men’s event, Olympian Duan Asemota of Montreal secured the men’s 100-metre title in a nail-biting photo finish with a time of 10.12 seconds. He narrowly beat out Aaron Brown from Toronto, who clocked 10.13 seconds. Brown was a key member of Canada’s gold medal-winning 4×100 metre relay team in 2024. Eliezer Adjibi of Ottawa placed third with a time of 10.21 seconds.
The absence of Canadian sprint sensation Andre De Grasse, who did not compete due to a sore hamstring, was felt as fans gathered to witness this exciting event. His participation would have added an extra layer of anticipation to the championships.
This year’s championships in Ottawa are critical for athletes as they build momentum towards upcoming international competitions. Leduc and Asemota’s performances not only highlight their extraordinary talent but also inspire a new generation of sprinters in Canada.
As the dust settles on this thrilling night of track and field, all eyes will be on the athletes as they prepare for future competitions. Fans and aspiring sprinters alike are eager to see how these champions will perform on the global stage.
Stay tuned for more updates as the Canadian Track and Field Championships continue to unfold, showcasing the best of Canadian athletics.
