Gold Prices Surge: Newfoundland’s Glover Island Gains New Interest

URGENT UPDATE: Rising gold prices are igniting a new wave of interest in gold exploration on Newfoundland’s west coast. On July 31, officials announced that Galloper Gold has been awarded mining rights for Glover Island, located near Corner Brook.
Galloper Gold CEO Hratch Jabrayan reports that the current gold price of $3,300 per ounce is making exploration in remote areas like Newfoundland increasingly attractive to major investors. “Gold being $3,300 now creates a lot of new opportunities for remote locations… to become attractive again for major investors,” Jabrayan stated in a recent interview.
This announcement comes as mining companies are keen to tap into Newfoundland’s mineral wealth. There are currently 19 mineral prospects in the area, predominantly for gold, alongside separate prospects for copper and zinc. This positions Galloper Gold among a select group of companies actively pursuing gold in the province, including Calibre Mining and Maritime Resources Corporation.
Jabrayan emphasized the long-term nature of mining projects, noting, “We are nowhere near having the amount of resource to be a mine yet. This is just the start.” He plans to begin aggressive drilling on Glover Island, aiming to uncover the area’s resource potential in the coming years. “Galloper Gold is all about delivering the next big gold copper deposit in Newfoundland,” he added.
Glover Island spans 144 square kilometres and is situated on a freshwater lake, making it a promising site for exploration. Despite its historical deposits, challenges such as securing investment and skilled labor have previously hindered progress in the region. For instance, Canadian gold exploration company Mountain Lake Resources had to halt its operations after failing to secure additional funding, resulting in the relinquishment of its license.
As Galloper Gold embarks on this promising venture, the CEO expresses optimism about the future. “This is a very, very attractive opportunity,” he remarked, highlighting that the exploration phase is crucial for determining the potential of the site.
With the gold market surging, all eyes are on Newfoundland as it positions itself as a new frontier for mining investment. Stakeholders and investors alike will be watching closely to see how Galloper Gold’s exploration progresses. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
