Oakville Youth Action Committee Invites Applications for 2025-2026 Term

The Town of Oakville is currently accepting applications for the 2025–2026 term of the Oakville Youth Action Committee (OYAC). This initiative offers a volunteer platform for youths aged 13 to 18 who are eager to contribute to their community and engage in meaningful activities.
OYAC seeks “motivated, creative, and community-minded youth” to participate in various roles, including planning events, advocating for youth initiatives, and collaborating with local organizations. The committee will operate from September 2025 to June 2026, featuring monthly in-person meetings at the Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre (QEPCCC), along with additional gatherings as necessary for event coordination.
Participation in OYAC enables young members to lead recreational and cultural initiatives aimed at fostering positive and inclusive experiences for their peers in Oakville. Previous projects led by the committee include the creation of public art murals at QEPCCC and the River Oaks Community Centre, organizing activities for Youth Week, and facilitating the Oakville Youth Awards. Additionally, members have played a vital role in town-wide events such as Family Day, Culture Days, and Community Play Nights.
The Town of Oakville emphasizes that involvement in OYAC also allows youth to accumulate volunteer hours, which are often required for high school graduation.
Applications for the committee are open until August 25, 2025. Interested candidates can submit their applications online via the OYAC webpage. Only those selected for the committee will be contacted for further engagement.
For additional information regarding OYAC and other youth services available in Oakville, please visit the Youth Services page on the town’s official website.
