Offset and JID Unveil New Music Ahead of Upcoming Albums

New music from Atlanta rappers Offset and JID is making waves with their latest collaboration, “Bodies.” This track, which samples the 2001 hit by nu-metal band Drowning Pool, has not only topped the charts but also signifies a new chapter for both artists as they prepare to release their latest albums.
The partnership might seem unexpected at first glance, given Offset’s melodic and aggressive style juxtaposed with JID’s intricate lyricism. Yet, their synergy on “Bodies” creates a compelling narrative of self-determination and personal evolution. JID described the experience of working on the song, stating, “As soon as he played it, it was like history. The production is one of my favorite compositions I ever recorded over.”
New Albums Mark a Fresh Start
In the wake of their collaboration, both artists are set to release their new albums this month. JID’s fourth album, God Does Like Ugly, debuted last week and reflects a significant evolution in his artistry. The title draws from a saying by his grandmother, emphasizing the album’s deeper intent. “It’s more intentional,” JID explained, contrasting it with his previous project, The Forever Story, which served as an origin narrative.
The new album features notable collaborators, including Clipse, Ciara, Don Toliver, and Vince Staples. Its lead single, “WRK,” encapsulates themes of ambition, further highlighted by JID’s recent performances on his “Dollar & A Dream” Tour, where entry fees were only one dollar. “I just thought it was a cool idea. A great way to be intimate and see your fans,” he shared.
Offset, on the other hand, is set to release his third solo album titled Kiari on August 22, 2025. Named after his legal name, the album reflects his journey and personal growth, featuring diverse musical styles. Offset described it as a collection of “different versions of Offset,” emphasizing his ongoing rebranding efforts.
Personal Reflections and Collaborations
While JID’s content revolves around ambition and introspection, Offset’s narrative takes a more personal turn. He stated, “It feels very personal. Not just about what I’m speaking on, but how serious the moment in time is for me to prevail.” His previous album, Set It Off, focused on re-establishing his presence in the rap scene, while Kiari represents a more authentic reflection of who he is.
Offset collaborates with a stellar lineup on this album, including Gunna, Key Glock, YoungBoy Never Broke Again, Ty Dolla $ign, Teezo Touchdown, and John Legend. The track “Never Let Go,” dedicated to his late cousin and Migos bandmate Takeoff, showcases his vulnerability. “It’s a song for him,” Offset remarked, acknowledging the emotional weight of the piece.
As Offset navigates personal changes, including the birth of his third daughter with rapper Cardi B, he sees this album as a way to address his past. “The last album, I had not did a song (for him) because I couldn’t during the time,” he explained. The closing track, “Move On,” encapsulates his desire to transition from past relationships, promoting a message of peaceful resolution.
In the competitive landscape of hip-hop, both Offset and JID are poised to make significant impacts with their new releases, showcasing not only their individual artistry but also a collaborative spirit that resonates with their fans. As they embrace new beginnings, their stories and sounds continue to evolve, promising exciting developments for listeners in the months to come.
