Edward Bayer Unveils Exciting Stage Show “Cristi’s Case Crackers”

Actor, model, and social influencer Edward Bayer is set to captivate audiences with his upcoming stage show, “Cristi’s Case Crackers,” on August 29 and 30, 2023, in Astoria, New York. The play will take place at the Thespis Theatre within the Hellenic Cultural Center (HCC NYC). Bayer will be joined on stage by a talented ensemble that includes Nicole Bilderback, Kacey Bair, Kayshaun Cage, Brian Sterling Chan, and several others.
Bayer describes “Cristi’s Case Crackers” as a murder mystery spinoff inspired by the beloved films “Bring It On” and “Clueless,” marking their 25th and 30th anniversaries, respectively. “This is for ‘Cristi’s Case Crackers.’ It was written as a murder mystery spinoff based on the movies,” he shared. The play promises to deliver both humor and suspense as it unfolds.
In discussing his motivation for taking on this role, Bayer expressed his enthusiasm for live performance. “Theatre is the foundation of so many successful actors that have come before me,” he noted, emphasizing the unique opportunity to act alongside a talented cast. He described his character as “a bit of an ass” but relished the chance to portray someone markedly different from himself, adding, “It’s fun getting to play someone that is so different to how I try and carry myself in real life.”
Bayer’s passion for live theatre stems from the immediate connection it fosters with the audience. He remarked, “When you’re on stage, there is no second take. You either bring it on or the audience will think you’re clueless.” This high-stakes environment is something he finds particularly appealing.
Working with the creative team has also been a rewarding experience for Bayer. He praised the show’s writer, Andrew, stating, “It was an absolute blessing. Getting to work with him every day is so great because it’s fun getting to know the man behind such a funny script.” Bayer admitted that rehearsals can be challenging due to the laughter that ensues when his co-stars deliver their lines.
The experience has taught Bayer valuable lessons about the demands of live theatre. “Learning an entire play’s script is much different than learning your scenes for the day like you might for a TV show or movie,” he acknowledged. He believes this challenge has contributed to his growth as an actor, stating, “I can feel myself growing as an actor every time we rehearse.”
For aspiring actors, Bayer encourages them to dive into the world of theatre. “Take the classes, read the plays, and just put yourself out there,” he advised. He believes that participating in theatre productions is an excellent way to discover oneself and hone one’s craft.
Looking ahead to the performances, Bayer expressed excitement for the audience experience. “I want them to know how funny the writing is and how effectively the cast delivers on it,” he emphasized. He added, “I really can’t stress enough how talented the whole cast is. I almost wish I wasn’t in it just so I can watch the play from the audience myself!”
For fans of “Bring It On” or “Clueless,” Bayer hinted at delightful surprises throughout the play. “No spoilers, but there are definitely some gems littered throughout the play. You’ll even feel like you’re a part of these worlds,” he concluded.
