Amazon Plans to Hire 7,000 Seasonal Workers for Holidays

Amazon is preparing for the holiday season by hiring 7,000 seasonal employees across Canada, including 30 positions in Greater Victoria. The company will focus its recruitment efforts at its delivery station located in Sidney. Recruitment for these roles will begin this month and continue through December, catering to various functions such as fulfillment, sorting, and delivery.
The seasonal positions available will encompass a range of tasks, including stowing, picking, packing, sorting, and shipping customer orders. This initiative comes alongside Amazon’s announcement of increased investments in employee compensation and workplace benefits, aiming to enhance the overall work experience for its staff.
Starting in December, Amazon will raise its average hourly wage for eligible employees to $24.50, marking a 4.3 percent increase from 2024. Additionally, the company plans to introduce an Employee Prime Benefit for qualifying frontline workers by the end of the year. Full-time employees at Amazon will earn a minimum annual salary of $50,960.
Chuck Cummings, Director of Customer Fulfillment at Amazon, emphasized the importance of these roles in the company’s workforce strategy. “By creating thousands of new seasonal roles and investing in compensation and workplace benefits, we’re providing meaningful employment opportunities that can lead to long-term careers at Amazon,” he stated in a recent news release. “We’re proud to offer competitive pay, comprehensive benefits from day one, and a supportive environment where everyone can thrive.”
The available seasonal positions are listed on hiring.amazon.ca and are expected to fill quickly. Job seekers are encouraged to check the website regularly for updates on openings. As the holiday shopping season approaches, Amazon’s focus on creating job opportunities highlights its significant role in the Canadian job market.
