Brandon Businesses Adjust Hours for Labour Day Celebrations
As Labour Day approaches on September 1, 2024, businesses in Brandon are adjusting their hours of operation to accommodate the holiday. This annual observance, dedicated to celebrating workers, will see various services and establishments either closed or operating on altered schedules.
City Services and Facilities
Brandon’s municipal services will pause for the holiday. The following facilities will remain closed:
– Brandon City Hall (410 Ninth St.)
– A.R. McDiarmid Civic Complex
– Brandon Youth Centre (638 Princess Ave.)
– Civic Services Complex (382 Park Ave. East)
– Parks Complex (2020 McGregor Ave.)
– Eastview Landfill (765 33rd St. East)
– Brandon Community Sportsplex (30 Knowlton Dr.)

Retail and Grocery Operations
For those looking to shop, several grocery stores and retail outlets will remain open on Labour Day. The following hours apply:
– Real Canadian Superstore (920 Victoria Ave.): 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
– Sobeys Extra Brandon South (1645 18th St.) and Sobeys Brandon West (3409 Victoria Ave.): 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
– Co-op Marketplace (1035 Richmond Ave.): 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. (pharmacy closed)
– Walmart Supercentre (Corral Centre): 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
– Safeway (Corral Centre): 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
– Brandon South, Victoria Avenue, Corral Centre, and West End Express Liquor Marts: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Additionally, local breweries and liquor stores will have varying hours. For example, Keystone Beer Company (1865 Brandon Ave.) will be open from 10 a.m. until midnight, while Beer Warehouse (Victoria Inn, 3550 Victoria Ave.) will be open from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m.
Health Services and Recreation
Healthcare services will see some closures as well. The Newmount Medical Walk-In Clinic will be closed for the day. As for pharmacies, many will operate on reduced hours. The Shoppers Drug Mart located at 139 Victoria Ave. East and the one at Shoppers Mall are expected to be open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
For recreational activities, the Commonwealth Air Training Plan Museum will be welcoming visitors from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., providing an opportunity for community members to engage in local history.
