Brandon Businesses Adjust Hours for Thanksgiving Day Services

As Thanksgiving Day approaches, businesses in Brandon are adapting their hours of operation to accommodate the holiday. Residents can expect various services to remain open or closed, and this article provides a comprehensive guide to what is available on this festive day.
City Services and Facilities
On Thanksgiving Day, several key municipal services in Brandon will be closed. Both the Brandon City Hall located at 410 Ninth St. and the A.R. McDiarmid Civic Complex will not operate. Additionally, the Civic Services Complex at 382 Park Ave. East, the Parks Complex at 2020 McGregor Ave., and the Eastview Landfill at 765 33rd St. East will also be unavailable.
The Brandon Community Sportsplex at 30 Knowlton Dr. and the Brandon Youth Centre at 638 Princess Ave. will remain closed throughout the day. For those in need of public transport, Brandon Transit will operate from 09:00 to 19:00, although the Transit Information Centre at 21 Eighth St. will not be open. Emergency public works issues can be reported by calling 204-729-2285, while non-emergency concerns can be submitted online at brandon.ca/report-an-issue.
Grocery and Retail Operations
A number of grocery stores will be open to serve residents on Thanksgiving. The Real Canadian Superstore at 920 Victoria Ave. will operate from 07:00 to 22:00. Meanwhile, both Sobeys Extra Brandon South at 1645 18th St. and Sobeys Brandon West at 3409 Victoria Ave. will be open from 07:00 to 23:00. The Co-op Marketplace at 1035 Richmond Ave. will welcome customers from 10:00 to 19:00, although its pharmacy will be closed.
The Walmart Supercentre in the Corral Centre will also be open from 07:00 to 22:00, as will the Safeway at Corral Centre.
For those looking to purchase alcohol, several Liquor Marts will have adjusted hours. The Brandon South, Victoria Avenue, Corral Centre, and West End Express Liquor Marts will be open from 11:00 to 18:00, while Keystone Beer Company at 1865 Brandon Ave. will be serving customers until 00:00.
Healthcare and Other Services
Most medical clinics will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, including the Newmont Medical Walk-In Clinic at 6428 18th St.. For pharmacy needs, it is advisable to contact specific locations in advance. Notably, Shoppers Drug Mart stores typically remain open, with the branch at 139 Victoria Ave. East and the one at Shoppers Mall both operating from 08:00 to 22:00.
For recreational activities, the Shoppers Mall will be open from 10:00 to 18:00, providing shopping opportunities for residents. Additionally, the Commonwealth Air Training Plan Museum will welcome visitors from 13:00 to 16:00.
