Brookvale Ski Park Thrives During Strong 2025-26 Winter Season
The Mark Arendz Provincial Ski Park in Brookvale, Prince Edward Island, is experiencing a robust winter season in 2025-26, with increased visitor satisfaction and participation. As of February 26, park operations lead Erin Curley reported positive feedback from guests, indicating a successful season, although final attendance figures will not be available until spring.
Strong Conditions and Visitor Engagement
Curley noted that recent snowfall has encouraged more visitors to enjoy the park’s offerings. “New snow like this week keeps people going. It invigorates them to get out and try things because they know there’s going to be extra snow to play in out here on the hills and trails,” she explained.
The ski park opened for the season on December 26, 2025, just one day later than the previous year. One notable highlight has been the minimal number of closures due to adverse weather. “We’ve been lucky that we haven’t had many closures, and that people have been able to continue being motivated,” Curley added.
Despite the natural snowfall, Brookvale has also been producing artificial snow to maintain optimal skiing conditions. The snowmaking operations commenced shortly after the park opened and concluded in early February. “As great as this snow is, it doesn’t hold up as well as man-made snow, so we always build a base of man-made snow to start our season,” Curley stated.
Success of Ski Programs
The ski park has gained recognition as a top destination among ski resorts in Atlantic Canada. Curley highlighted the popularity of the winter-long and March Break ski camps, both of which sold out within a week after being announced. “I am so proud of the team that we have here. Our snow school is one of the biggest in Atlantic Canada,” she remarked, noting that they typically offer around 600 spots each season.
As the winter season progresses, Curley emphasized that there is still plenty of time left for skiing. “We’ve got a month to a month and a half of the season left and we’re still going strong. I, personally, would ski as long as people are interested,” she mentioned.
Looking ahead, the park is preparing for major upcoming events, including the ski cross race on February 28, 2026, and the Kombi U12 race on March 1, 2026. Curley anticipates hosting around 150 athletes and 300 visitors from across Atlantic Canada and Quebec for these events.
In an additional highlight for the ski community, Brookvale plans to screen the upcoming Paralympic Games taking place in Milano-Cortina from March 6 to 15, 2026. Curley expressed excitement about the games, especially for the park’s namesake, Mark Arendz, a renowned biathlete and winner of 12 Paralympic medals. “We plan to watch as many of the Paralympics as our namesake Mark Arendz is in,” she stated.
As the season continues, Brookvale Ski Park aims to maintain its momentum, providing an engaging environment for both seasoned skiers and newcomers alike. The combination of favorable weather conditions, community engagement, and robust programming underscores the park’s commitment to delivering a premier winter sports experience.
