Former UVic President Appointed CEO of Zayed University

Dr. Kevin Richard Hall, the former president of the University of Victoria (UVic), has been appointed as the new president and CEO of Zayed University in the United Arab Emirates, effective November 1, 2023. The announcement, made on October 7, highlighted Hall’s extensive background in higher education and international academic leadership.

Zayed University, established in 1998 by the federal government as an all-women’s institution, has evolved into a co-educational university known for its emphasis on producing bilingual graduates proficient in both Arabic and English. During his tenure at UVic, which concluded on August 1, 2023, Dr. Hall navigated multiple challenges, including the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and fluctuations in international student enrollment. He played a crucial role in renewing the university’s strategic plan and establishing the vice-president of Indigenous role. Furthermore, he expanded global engagement initiatives, reflecting his commitment to enhancing the university’s international presence.
