Grundy Area Vocational Center Launches Aviation Program with Local Partners
The Grundy Area Vocational Center (GAVC) is set to introduce a new aviation program, partnering with the City of Morris, Morris Municipal Airport, and D14 Aviation. This initiative aims to provide high school students with a comprehensive education in aviation, preparing them for potential careers in a rapidly growing field.
Through this collaboration, students will access a curriculum that encompasses various aspects of aviation, including aeronautics, aviation maintenance, and flight science. The program will also highlight career pathways within the aerospace industry, offering students valuable insights and skills.
Lance Copes, Director of GAVC, expressed enthusiasm for the new program, stating, “Our goal has always been to give students a competitive edge in today’s workforce. This partnership allows us to expand into a high-demand field and offer students direct exposure to aviation careers, right here in our community.”
Real-World Experiences and Career Opportunities
The partnership with Morris Municipal Airport and the City of Morris will facilitate hands-on learning experiences in an operational aviation environment. Students will have the chance to engage with industry professionals, observe airport operations, and participate in training that could lead to certifications and further educational opportunities after graduation.
“We’re proud to support this initiative that not only invests in the future of our students but also aligns with the continued growth and development of Morris Municipal Airport and the regional economy,” said Chris Brown, Mayor of Morris.
The program’s launch marks a significant step in addressing workforce demands in aviation and aerospace. As the industry continues to grow, educational institutions like GAVC are adapting to provide relevant training and opportunities for students.
More details regarding program enrollment, specific curriculum information, and upcoming informational sessions will be released in the coming months. Interested individuals can visit the GAVC website at www.gavc-il.org or follow the Grundy Area Vocational Center on Facebook for updates.
