Illinois Valley Community College (IVCC) has introduced a new course aimed at aspiring entrepreneurs seeking to launch or expand their businesses. The small business accelerator program is designed to guide participants in developing effective business plans while crafting strategies for funding and marketing their ventures.

The course employs the nationally recognized Kauffman FastTrac curriculum, which is well-regarded for its practical approach to entrepreneurship education. Participants will ultimately present their business ideas in a Shark Tank-style pitch session, where top performers can receive awards to help invest in their projects.

Leading the sessions will be Connor Cofoid, an alumnus of IVCC and the founder of a startup consulting business. Classes are set to begin on February 17, 2024, and will run every Tuesday from 18:00 to 20:00 until April 14, 2024, at IVCC’s main campus.

The cost of the program is $549, but grant funds are available to reduce this fee by half for students registering through IVCC’s Continuing Education program. This financial support aims to make the program more accessible to a wider audience, encouraging entrepreneurial growth in the region.

Individuals interested in participating can register by calling 815-224-0427 and referencing ID 25908. Additional information about the program can be found on IVCC’s official website.

This initiative reflects IVCC’s commitment to fostering entrepreneurship and supporting local economic development by equipping aspiring business owners with essential skills and resources.
