The University of Illinois is set to host its annual Discover 4-H Carnival on Sunday, October 12, 2023, in Sycamore. This engaging event will take place from 15:00 to 17:00 at the DeKalb County Farm Bureau, located at 1350 W. Prairie Drive. Families are invited to explore the various opportunities offered by the 4-H program in a fun and interactive environment.
Participants can expect a variety of games and activities designed to entertain and educate. Highlights include a large parachute, balloon animals, card-making for Opportunity House, magnet fishing, face painting, a cotton ball toss, and ladder golf. Attendees will also have the chance to win prizes throughout the event. Refreshments such as popcorn and hot dogs will be available, ensuring a delightful experience for all.
In addition to the activities, attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about joining a 4-H Club. Current members and leaders will be present to answer questions and provide information about the organization. 4-H is a youth development program for boys and girls aged 8 to 18, offering over 170 projects that cover a wide range of interests, including rocketry, wildlife, photography, computers, animals, visual arts, and food.
The program emphasizes a hands-on approach to learning, allowing members to choose project areas that resonate with their personal interests. For younger children aged 5 to 7, the Cloverbuds program is available. This initiative offers hands-on learning experiences focused on animals, art, science, plants, and the environment.
This carnival provides a fantastic opportunity for families to engage with the community and discover the enriching experiences that 4-H has to offer. For further information, contact the DeKalb County Farm Bureau at 815-758-8194.
