Lyons Township High School Unveils New South Campus Facilities
Lyons Township High School (LTHS) has successfully completed its construction projects at the South Campus, introducing a new cafeteria and state-of-the-art music facilities. These enhancements are part of District 204’s ongoing initiative, known as the Groundwork for a Brighter Future, aimed at modernizing educational environments for students.
The comprehensive renovation, which represents an investment of approximately $33 million, focuses on improving academic, social, and extracurricular spaces over multiple years. This significant phase of the capital improvement plan not only elevates the educational experience for students but also strengthens community connections.
Modern Facilities Foster Student Engagement
The newly constructed cafeteria and commons area at South Campus provide a contemporary gathering space designed for flexibility. This renovation enhances daily dining experiences while also offering a collaborative environment where students can socialize, study, and engage in various school activities.
In addition to the cafeteria, the project includes renovated and expanded music rooms. These purpose-built facilities support a wide array of musical activities, from individual practice to ensemble performances. The enhancements aim to foster creativity and collaboration within LTHS’s already robust music program.
District 204 collaborated closely with DLA Architects Ltd. and Happ Builders to bring this vision to life. The community engagement process in 2022 and a facilities and mechanical assessment conducted from 2019 to 2021 informed the district’s strategic objectives for future projects.
The improvements at South Campus reflect a commitment to creating modern learning environments that enhance educational outcomes. As the district continues to implement its Groundwork for a Brighter Future initiative, it is poised to further transform both campuses into spaces that prioritize student well-being and academic success.
These advancements not only benefit current students but also lay the foundation for future generations, ensuring that LTHS remains a hub of learning, creativity, and community engagement for years to come.
