The Plano Public Library has announced a diverse lineup of programs for February 2024, designed to cater to community members of all ages and interests. The events include writing workshops, yoga classes, arts and crafts sessions, and opportunities for technology assistance. Each program aims to promote learning, creativity, and community engagement.

Writing and Arts Programs

The library will host a **Writers Group** on Thursdays, specifically on January 29, February 12, and February 26, from 18:30 to 20:00. This gathering invites adults and high school students to share their work and receive feedback in a supportive environment. Participants can join either in person or via Zoom, with no registration required.

Additionally, on February 9, participants can join **Painting with Petite Palette** from 18:30 to 20:00. An artist from The Petite Palette will guide attendees in creating an acrylic painting on canvas. A **$15 fee** is required at the time of registration, and this event is open to high school students and adults.

For those interested in crafting, the **Crafts to Go – Heart Photo Box** event on February 7 offers free materials for high school students and adults, available on a first-come, first-served basis. The library emphasizes that supplies are limited.

Wellness and Community Engagement

Wellness programs are also a focus this month. **Yoga with Jen**, scheduled for Fridays—February 6, 13, 20, and 27 from 10:30 to 11:30—offers participants a chance to improve their mood and reduce stress. Led by certified instructor **Jen Penn**, the class is open to adults and encourages attendees to bring their own mats or use those provided by the library. Registration is required for each session.

For technology assistance, the **Technology Help Desk** will operate on February 10 from 12:00 to 13:00. This drop-in service allows individuals to meet with tech expert **Steve Goodwin** for help with devices such as computers, tablets, or smartphones. No registration is necessary, but attendees should bring their devices for the best experience.

The library also encourages community involvement through the **New Life for Old Bags** event on February 14, from 10:30 to 12:00. Participants will assist in transforming plastic shopping bags into sleeping mats for the homeless. For more details, interested individuals can contact **Ceil Carey** at [email protected].

Additionally, **Senator Sue Rezin**’s office will hold traveling office hours on February 17 from 12:30 to 14:00, providing support to constituents navigating issues with state or government agencies.

Children’s Programs and Book Clubs

The library offers engaging programs for younger audiences as well. The **Bookworms** session on February 3 from 17:00 to 17:45 is aimed at independent students in grades kindergarten through third, featuring stories, snacks, and crafts. Registration is required for this event.

For aspiring artists, **Create Art with Petite Palette** will take place on February 5, offering two sessions for different age groups: ages 6 to 10 at 16:45 and ages 10 to 18 at 18:15. A **$5 fee** applies for registration.

The **Wednesday Book Club** will discuss **“The Year of What If”** by **Phaedra Patrick** on February 18, at 15:30. Newcomers are always welcome, and the library provides copies of the book at the Checkout Desk.

These programs reflect the Plano Public Library’s commitment to fostering a vibrant community through education and creativity. For more information or to register for specific events, individuals can visit the library’s website or contact the library directly.
