Plano Public Library Unveils Exciting February Programs for All Ages
The Plano Public Library has announced a diverse lineup of programs for February 2024, offering activities tailored for all ages. From creative workshops to technology assistance, the library aims to engage the community through various enriching experiences.
Literary and Craft Opportunities
Writers and book lovers can participate in the Writers Group on Thursdays, February 29 and February 12, 26, from 18:30 to 20:00. This group welcomes adults and high school students to share and discuss their literary works either in person or via Zoom, with no registration required. Interested attendees can join using the Zoom meeting ID 988 2555 0591 and passcode 048559.
For those looking to explore their artistic side, the library is hosting a Painting with Petite Palette class on Monday, February 9, from 18:30 to 20:00. Participants will create an acrylic painting on canvas under the guidance of a skilled instructor. Each session has a fee of $15, payable at registration.
Additionally, a Crafts to Go event featuring a Heart Photo Box will take place on Saturday, February 7, with supplies available on a first-come, first-served basis. This free craft opportunity is designed for high school students and adults.
Wellness and Community Engagement
To promote physical well-being, the library offers Yoga with Jen on Fridays, February 6, 13, 20, and 27, from 10:30 to 11:30. Led by certified instructor Jen Penn, this class is intended to uplift mood and alleviate stress. Participants can bring their own mats or use those provided by the library. Registration is required for each session.
Technology enthusiasts can benefit from the Technology Help Desk on Tuesday, February 10, from 12:00 to 13:00. This drop-in service allows individuals to seek assistance from tech expert Steve Goodwin regarding their devices, including computers and tablets, without prior registration.
Community members are encouraged to participate in the New Life for Old Bags initiative on Saturday, February 14, from 10:30 to 12:00. Volunteers will work together to transform plastic shopping bags into sleeping mats for the homeless. For more information, interested individuals can contact Ceil Carey at [email protected].
Another significant event is the office hours hosted by Senator Sue Rezin on Tuesday, February 17, from 12:30 to 14:00. A representative will be present to assist constituents with governmental inquiries, and no prior registration is necessary.
The library also features various classes for children, including a card-making workshop on Tuesday, February 17, where participants will create five personalized cards. The class is open to adults, high school students, and children aged 10 and older, accompanied by an adult. A fee of $5 applies.
For younger audiences, the Wednesday Book Club will meet on February 18 from 15:30 to 16:30 to discuss “The Year of What If” by Phaedra Patrick. This club welcomes newcomers and offers a variety of genres for exploration.
Other engaging activities include the Knit and Crochet Group, which meets every Monday from 16:00 to 18:00 for in-person sessions and Thursdays from 10:00 to 12:00 for virtual meetings via Zoom. These groups offer a space for knitting enthusiasts of all ages to collaborate and learn.
The Plano Public Library’s February programs reflect its commitment to fostering community engagement and personal development. With a wide array of options available, residents can find something that suits their interests and enhances their skills.
