Red River College Launches New Programs to Meet Job Market Needs
Students at Red River College Polytech in Winnipeg will return to classes on September 11, 2023, with exciting new offerings designed to address the evolving demands of the job market. One of the highlights is the newly introduced Entertainment Production Program, overseen by instructor Brendon Sawatzky.
The program aims to equip aspiring producers with the skills needed to take creative projects from conception to completion. “It’s really suited for people who want to take a creative project from start to finish,” Sawatzky explained. His emphasis on the need for more producers reflects a broader industry trend, as many individuals express interest in pursuing their own film projects, whether through writing, directing, or producing.
The Entertainment Production Program is part of a larger initiative, with RRC Polytech introducing a total of five new programs this academic year. This strategic move aims to keep pace with the changing landscape of various industries, ensuring that students are prepared for the careers of tomorrow.
Sawatzky noted the critical shortage of producers in the industry, stating, “There’s really not enough producers. Everyone you talk to has a film they would like to do, write or direct, and so a need for more producers is really important.” By addressing this gap, RRC Polytech hopes to cultivate a new generation of skilled professionals who can thrive in the creative sector.
In addition to the Entertainment Production Program, RRC Polytech’s new offerings include other programs tailored to meet specific industry demands. These initiatives underscore the college’s commitment to adapting its curriculum to reflect the skills and knowledge required in today’s job market.
As students prepare to embark on their educational journeys, the focus on practical and relevant training is expected to enhance their employability and career prospects in a competitive landscape. For more information on the new programs and how they can benefit students, further details will be shared through the college’s official channels.
