Regina Students Embark on Magical Disneyland Adventure

A group of students from Regina, Canada, is set to enjoy a remarkable journey to Disneyland in March 2024, thanks to the volunteer-based organization, Dreams Take Flight. The initiative provides all-expenses-paid trips for children facing various challenges, including medical, mental, physical, social, or emotional difficulties. Four students from the Elsie Mironuck School were selected for this opportunity based on their significant contributions to their school community.

Among the chosen students is 12-year-old Spencer Krassman, who expressed his astonishment at the surprise announcement made during a school assembly. Initially informed they were participating in a trivia challenge, the students were momentarily unaware that the real news awaited them. “I didn’t expect for this to happen,” Spencer shared, beaming with excitement. The thrill of discovering he would soon board a plane to California left him eagerly planning his adventures at Disneyland, including trying rides and meeting beloved characters like Mickey Mouse.

Another student, 11-year-old Abriella Fagan, is also looking forward to this once-in-a-lifetime experience. Her mother, Chelsea Fagan, fondly recalled her own similar trip with Dreams Take Flight during her childhood. “It was fun, it was exciting — it was scary, but I had a good time,” Chelsea reminisced. She revealed that keeping the trip a secret from her daughter since May had been challenging, filled with anticipation and excitement.

The day-long adventure will be orchestrated by long-time volunteer chaperone Greg Guest, who emphasized that the trip is designed to maximize enjoyment for the children. “It’s a one-day whirlwind trip, where we get as many rides in, parades in, churros, and whatever the kids want to do,” he explained. The organization covers all expenses related to the trip, including travel, meals, and park tickets, ensuring that the children’s special day remains focused on their enjoyment.

The group will travel to Los Angeles via a chartered flight generously donated by Air Canada. The airline will provide volunteer pilots and flight attendants, who will don Disney-themed attire to enhance the experience for the young travelers.

As the students prepare for their journey, the excitement is palpable. This adventure not only promises to create lasting memories but also highlights the importance of community support in enriching the lives of children facing challenges.
