Top 10 Canadian Universities Revealed in 2025 Global Ranking

The latest academic ranking by ShanghaiRanking Consultancy has unveiled the top 10 universities in Canada for 2025, showcasing the nation’s leaders in higher education. This year, the consultancy analyzed over 2,500 universities globally, with three Canadian institutions making it into the top 100 worldwide.
The ranking assesses universities based on several rigorous criteria, including the number of Nobel Prize and Fields Medal winners among staff and alumni, as well as the number of highly cited researchers. Other factors include the volume of research papers published in prestigious journals such as Nature and Science, alongside citations indexed in the Science Citation Index-Expanded and the Social Science Citation Index. The overall performance is calculated with respect to the highest scoring institution, which is assigned a score of 100, while others are rated as a percentage of that score.
