Tormach Launches xsTECH Pro CNC Router for Educational Settings

Tormach has unveiled the new xsTECH Pro CNC desktop router, marking a significant advancement in its xsTECH platform. This latest model is specifically designed for educational and training environments, providing a blend of professional-grade machining capabilities within a compact, enclosed structure.
The xsTECH Pro weighs just 150 lb. and is designed to fit comfortably on a 24-inch countertop, making it ideal for classrooms, STEM labs, and makerspaces. One of its standout features is a full safety enclosure, which effectively contains chips and dust during operation, enhancing safety for users in educational settings.
Advanced Features for Learning and Production
Building upon the original xsTECH model, the Pro version introduces several advanced features that are typically not available in classroom-scale systems. Notably, it includes a four-station automatic tool changer, expanded spindle capabilities, and the option for robotic workcell integration. Such capabilities allow users to explore a wider range of machining techniques, including probing and 4th-axis machining.
The router operates on standard single-phase power and is versatile enough to cut materials such as wood, plastics, and aluminum. It utilizes Tormach’s proprietary PathPilot control software, which simplifies programming through conversational interfaces and provides access to the PathPilot HUB for additional resources and support.
Integration with Robotic Workcells
For educational institutions looking to enhance their automation capabilities, the xsTECH Pro can seamlessly integrate into robotic workcells. This feature allows for more complex automated workflows, providing students and trainees with exposure to cutting-edge manufacturing technologies.
The introduction of the xsTECH Pro represents Tormach’s commitment to fostering innovation and practical skills in the next generation of engineers and machinists. As educational environments increasingly focus on incorporating advanced technology, tools like the xsTECH Pro are essential for equipping students with the necessary skills for future careers in manufacturing and engineering.
