Abbotsford’s Gallery 7 Theatre Hosts Hilarious Improv Night
Gallery 7 Theatre in Abbotsford is set to host an evening of spontaneous comedy with its event, Very Very Improv, on October 17, 2023. The performance will take place at the Matsqui Centennial Auditorium, located at 32315 South Fraser Way, starting at 19:30. This Langley-based improv group will captivate audiences with unscripted scenes created from live audience suggestions.
The event is under the artistic direction of Cliff Prang, who will also serve as the host. Joining him on stage will be a talented ensemble of improvisers, including Delaney Gilmour, Russ Brummer, Mike de Boer, and Tia Cooke. Prang emphasizes the interactive nature of improv, stating, “Everything we do on stage is based on audience participation and suggestions. Improv is a collaborative experience between performers and audience, so every show is unique and anything can happen.”
Recent performances by the troupe have featured a wide range of themes, showcasing their creativity and adaptability. For instance, they have humorously depicted scenarios such as Mexican vacations presented in the style of true-crime documentaries. The dynamic nature of the show means that no two performances are alike, making it a thrilling experience for attendees.
Prang encourages audience members to engage actively, noting, “When we ask the audience for ideas, there are no right and wrong answers. Often, multiple suggestions come at us at once, so it’s especially fun to feel out what is particularly inspiring in that moment.” This level of spontaneity adds an exhilarating element to the performance, reinforcing the collaborative spirit of improv.
The show is designed to be suitable for all ages, making it an inclusive entertainment option. Tickets are priced at $26 for adults, $23 for seniors or students, and $16 for children. Interested individuals can purchase tickets by visiting the theatre’s website or by calling 604-504-5940.
Gallery 7 Theatre promises an unforgettable night of laughter and creativity with Very Very Improv. Attendees can look forward to an evening where imagination knows no bounds and every performance is a delightful surprise.
